Classic, hybrid and volume lashes explained

The three main extension styles, how each one is applied, and who each one suits best.

When you book extensions, the first question is usually which style you want. The names sound like menu options, but they describe how the lashes are applied, and that changes the whole look.

Classic

One extension is attached to one natural lash. The result is clean and defined, a lot like your best mascara day. Classic works best when you already have a decent number of natural lashes, because the fullness depends on what you start with.

Volume

Volume uses very fine extensions grouped into a small fan, and each fan is attached to one natural lash. Because the extensions are lighter, a fan can sit on a natural lash safely. Volume gives a darker, softer and fuller line. It is a great choice if your natural lashes are sparse or you like a bold look.

Hybrid

Hybrid mixes classic singles and volume fans in the same set. You get texture and dimension, a bit wispy and a bit full. It is the most popular choice for people who want more than classic but not full glam.

Is one style better for your natural lashes?

Any style can be safe when it is matched to your natural lashes. The key is weight. A good artist picks a thickness and length your lashes can carry, and never glues lashes together. If your natural lashes are fine or short, a heavy classic set can do more harm than a light volume set.

Not sure which one to pick?

Bring a few photos to your consultation. Kelsey will look at your natural lashes and tell you honestly which style will look like the photo on you.
