Eyelash extension aftercare: the first 48 hours
What to do and what to avoid right after your appointment so your new set bonds well.
The adhesive keeps curing for a while after you leave. What you do in the first two days has a big effect on how long your set lasts.
The first 24 hours
- Keep your lashes dry. No crying at movies, no swimming, no face washing over the eyes.
- Avoid steam. That means saunas, steam rooms and very hot showers.
- Skip workouts that make you sweat a lot.
- Do not touch, rub or pull at your lashes.
Hours 24 to 48
- You can wash your face, but keep water pressure off your eyes.
- Brush the lashes gently with a clean spoolie, from the middle to the tips.
- Keep oil based products away from the eye area. This includes many cleansing balms and eye creams.
After that
Clean your lashes a few times a week with a lash safe cleanser and let them air dry or use a cool hair dryer setting. Never use a mechanical lash curler on extensions, and skip mascara. You will not need it.
